The Aosta Summer Fair

The summer sister of the Fair of Saint Ours

Every summer, the historic centre of Aosta fills with craftspeople’s stalls. This is the Summer Fair, which began in 1969. The Region presents it as the summer “sister” of the centuries-old Fair of Saint Ours, held in January.

A day in August

The fair takes place on a single day, a Saturday in early August. In 2021 the 52nd edition was held on 7 August. In 2026 the 57th edition took place on Saturday 1 August. The craftspeople come from all over the region. Depending on the year, sources mention several hundred exhibitors.

Wood, stone and other materials

Traditional crafts here mostly use wood and stone. Visitors see sculptures, turned objects such as the grolla and the friendship cup, or pieces in soapstone. The fair also welcomes ceramics, copper, glass, gold and silver. One category is reserved for works made with non-traditional materials and techniques.

A summer of crafts

The fair now closes several weeks devoted to crafts. In 2026, from 18 July to 2 August, Aosta hosted the 73rd Exhibition-Competition of Aosta Valley crafts in Piazza Chanoux. It has existed for more than seventy years. The Atelier des métiers presented the work of professionals and master craftspeople. There were also choir evenings, the OrsOFF event and an international gathering of wood turners.

Before or after your visit
