The Paradisia Botanical Garden
A thousand mountain species at 1,700 metres, in the heart of Gran Paradiso

In the hamlet of Valnontey, in Cogne, the Paradisia botanical garden shows mountain flora at 1,700 metres, inside Gran Paradiso National Park.
A garden from 1955
The garden was founded in July 1955. Its name comes from St Bruno’s lily, Paradisea liliastrum, a white flower of Alpine meadows. It is run by the Fondation Grand Paradis.
A thousand mountain species
About 1,000 species can be seen, from the Alps, the Apennines and other mountains of the world. The plants are set in rock gardens that recall their natural habitat. The garden opens only in summer, once the snow has melted.
In the park
Paradisia lies at the start of many of the park’s trails. To discover the rest of the area, see the article on Gran Paradiso National Park.
