Muscat has been grown in Chambave since the Middle Ages. The wine is made solely from muscat blanc à petits grains, harvested in four municipalities: Chambave, Verrayes, Saint-Denis and Châtillon.

A warm corner of the valley

The vines grow on sandy, well-drained slopes, in a part of the valley where summers are hot. The grapes are picked by hand, usually at the end of September.

A dry muscat

Unlike many muscats, Chambave’s is a dry wine. It smells of fresh grapes, white flowers and a little honey, but the palate stays crisp.

There is also a sweet version, Chambave Muscat flétri: the grapes are left to dry for a few weeks after the harvest before being pressed.

At the table

The dry muscat is drunk as an aperitif, with fresh cheeses or lightly spiced food. The flétri version goes with fruit desserts and bleu d’Aoste.
