Cornalin DOC

An old grape on both sides of the Alps

Cornalin is an old red grape of the Aosta Valley. It is also found in the Valais, where it is called humagne rouge. It is still not widely planted.

From Donnas to Avise

It is planted in the lower and middle valley, from Donnas to Avise. Depending on the municipality, the upper limit of the vineyards lies between 600 and 800 metres. Morgex and La Salle are not part of its area.

Five months in the cellar

Cornalin makes up 85% of the wine or more. After five months of ageing, the bottle may be sold.

In the glass

Ruby red. A harmonious wine, slightly tannic, with a note of almond on the finish.

At the table

Grilled red meats, Aosta Valley sausage, stews, semi-mature cheeses.
