Mayolet DOC

A local grape, early-ripening and delicate

Mayolet is a red grape of the Aosta Valley. It ripens early, which is an advantage in the mountains. For a long time it was blended with the other reds. Today a few winemakers vinify it on its own.

Vineyards that climb high

The appellation allows it throughout its territory, from the municipalities of the lower valley to those of Morgex and La Salle. Depending on the bank and the municipality, its vineyards can reach 800 to 1,000 metres.

On its own, or nearly

A bottle of mayolet contains at least 85% of it. The wine can leave the cellar after five months of ageing.

In the glass

Ruby red verging on garnet. A fine, discreet nose, and a supple palate with a slight bitterness at the finish.

At table

Cured meats, pasta with mushrooms, white meat and mountain toma.
