Nebbiolo DOC

Picotendro under its own name

Nebbiolo is the great grape of neighbouring Piedmont. In the lower valley it is called picotendro. It makes Donnas and Arnad-Montjovet, and it can also carry its own name on the label.

Reserved for the lower valley

This wine comes only from the lower valley, between Pont-Saint-Martin, Donnas and Montjovet. The grape needs warmth: the vineyards stop at 600 metres on the right bank and 700 metres on the left bank. Any higher, it would not ripen properly.

In the bottle sooner than Donnas

Nebbiolo must make up at least 85% of the blend. Donnas has to wait two years; this wine can be sold after five months of ageing.

In the glass

Ruby with garnet highlights. A light note of almond, a full-bodied wine with tannins on the finish.

At the table

Red meat, braised beef, game, mushroom dishes, mature fontina.
