Gamaret DOC
A recent Swiss grape variety
Gamaret is a young grape. It was created in Switzerland in 1970 by crossing gamay with a white grape, reichensteiner. It stands up well to cold and rot.
Still rare in the valley
The appellation allows it everywhere, from the vineyards of the lower valley to those of Morgex and La Salle. Yet little of it is planted.
A simple rule
A gamaret wine contains 85% or more of this grape. It may be sold after five months of ageing.
In the glass
Intense ruby red. A delicate, slightly spicy nose. On the palate, a dry, tannic wine with body.
At the table
Grilled meats, civet (game stew), polenta dishes, mature cheeses.
