Syrah DOC

The Rhône grape on the warm hillsides

Syrah is the grape of the Côtes du Rhône. In the Aosta Valley it is planted on the best-exposed hillsides, where it finds enough warmth.

The well-exposed hillsides

Its area runs from Donnas to Avise, in the lower and middle valley. Depending on the municipality, the vineyards go no higher than 600 to 800 metres. In Morgex and La Salle, syrah is not entitled to the appellation.

Its share of the wine

Syrah makes up at least 85% of the blend. After five months of ageing, the wine can be sold.

In the glass

Deep ruby red. A nose of spices, especially pepper, and a balanced palate on which the spices return.

At table

Grilled meats, lamb, game and spicy dishes.
