Wine returns to the heart of Aosta, in an old mill

Tanteun e Marietta – Wine returns to the heart of Aosta, in an old mill

Tanteun and Marietta were great-grandparents. Their names became those of a winery founded in 2012. It all started with Marietta’s vineyard, then with old vines that elderly growers could no longer work.

A winery in town

The winery is right in the centre of Aosta, in a former mill, the Ressaz mill. Making wine in the middle of a town is rare.

Vineyards from Châtillon to Villeneuve

The vineyards, about three hectares, are made up of small plots. They stretch over 35 kilometres, from Châtillon to Villeneuve. Altitude, soil and exposure vary a great deal from one plot to the next.

You can also “adopt” a row of vines for a year.

The wines

  • “Bizelle”: a Pinot Gris.
  • Muscat Petit Grain.
  • “R.E.M.”: a Pinot Noir.
  • “Bohème”: mostly Petit Rouge, with Cornalin and Vien de Nus.
  • “Farouche” and “Lo Toque”: reds from local grapes, including old vines.
