Cave Gargantua
Two brothers, a garage and the legend of the giant

In Gressan, Cave Gargantua is run by two brothers, Laurent and André Cunéaz. Laurent makes the wine and André looks after sales. Their grandfather passed on his love of the vine.
The giant’s finger
The name comes from a village legend. The long ridge of rock above Gressan is said to be the little finger of the giant Gargantua. The brothers chose the name to root their winery in the local area.
A garage turned winery
The winery was founded in 2013, in the garage of the family home, converted into a cellar. Laurent had previously worked at the Institut Agricole Régional in Aosta. The brothers like to mix tradition with experiments.
“Mémoire”
Their most personal wine is a Petite Arvine called “Mémoire”. It is dedicated to their father, Santino, who loved this grape. Half the wine is aged in oak barriques, the other half in stoneware jars, for a year. The two are then blended. The result is a mineral, salty white.
The wines
- Petite Arvine “Mémoire”: the house’s flagship white.
- Torrette Supérieur “Labié”: the traditional red of the central valley.
- Gamay, Gamaret, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris.
- The Gargantua range: an easy-drinking red, white and rosé.
