Torrette Supérieur DOC
The petit rouge of the hillsides around Aosta

Torrette owes its name to a hamlet in the central valley. Its vineyards spread over the hillsides around Aosta, notably in Aymavilles, Gressan, Jovençan, Sarre and Saint-Pierre.
Petit rouge
The wine is made from at least 70% petit rouge, the most widely planted red grape in the valley. The rest may come from other local grapes: fumin, vien de Nus, mayolet.
Why “supérieur”
Torrette Supérieur must be aged for at least eight months before it is sold, compared with five for ordinary Torrette. The grapes are picked by hand in October.
In the glass
Deep ruby with garnet tints. Cherry and raspberry, pepper and clove. The tannins are supple.
At the table
Cured meats, fondue, grilled meats, game, mature cheeses.
