Giorgio Lale Murix
A winegrower from Saint-Pierre, honoured at Vinitaly in 2023

At Praximond, in the municipality of Saint-Pierre, Giorgio Lale Murix has been growing vines for more than thirty years. His production is small and handcrafted, focused on mountain grape varieties.
Bringing old vineyards back to life
His farm is mostly planted with vines. Giorgio Lale Murix made his name by taking over old vineyards, some a century old, restoring and modernising them while keeping them profitable. His wines are part of the Consorzio Vini Valle d’Aosta network.
Water and land
He is also involved in managing water and farmland. For many years he has chaired the land improvement consortium of Saint-Pierre – Villeneuve and that of Cumiod-Montovert, which manage irrigation in particular. He also represents the Aosta Valley in ANBI, the national association of land and irrigation water consortiums.
An award at Vinitaly
In April 2023, at the Vinitaly fair in Verona, he received the Angelo Betti award, which each year honours one person per region for their commitment to the wine world. He received it for the Aosta Valley, both as a winegrower and for his work for the area.
The wines
- Gamay DOC: a 100 % Gamay red, fresh and typical of mountain wines.
- Argenteum: a rare sweet wine made from overripe grapes.
