Gerbelle Didier
The winegrower who brought neyret back to life

The Gerbelle family has been growing vines in Aymavilles since the early 20th century. Didier, who trained at the school of oenology in Alba, set up his estate in 2006 with his parents’ and grandparents’ vines.
The return of neyret
Neyret is an old Aosta Valley grape. It already appears in a text from 1587. It had almost disappeared. Didier replanted it in 2010 and released his first bottles in 2013. The wine is called “L’Aîné”. It is aged in amphora and in wood. It has earthy, spicy notes.
Stony soils
The estate covers just under three hectares, in Aymavilles and Villeneuve, between 550 and 850 metres. The soils are poor and full of stones. Didier does everything himself, from pruning to bottling. He produces about 15,000 bottles a year.
The wines
- “L’Aîné”: the neyret.
- Torrette, including the cuvée “Vignes des Ancêtres”.
- Fumin, Petit Rouge, Gamay and Pinot Noir.
- A rosé and a white blend, “Jeux de Cépages”.
