Grosjean Vins
A big family from Quart, caring for its land for three generations

The Grosjean family has lived in the Aosta Valley since the early 17th century. After the Second World War, grandfather Dauphin took up winegrowing on the land of his wife, Michelina Cachoz, in Quart. In 1968 he presented his first bottle at the second Exposition des vins du Val d’Aoste. His five sons, Vincent, Giorgio, Marco, Fernando and Eraldo, carried on. Since 2018 the third generation has run the estate: Hervé, Didier, Simon and Marco.
The Rovettaz cru
In the 1980s and 1990s the family revived the valley’s grape varieties and brought back the Rovettaz vineyard, a cru abandoned for centuries. The vines cover about fifteen hectares, in Quart and Saint-Christophe, between 500 and 900 metres, on slopes of up to 80%. A new winery was built in 2000 and extended in 2015; it now produces around 140,000 bottles.
Respect for the land
The grandfather already used no pesticides or acaricides. The family keeps this care for the environment:
- the soil is aerated and covered with grass sown after the harvest, then flattened in spring to protect it;
- treatments use plant extracts (essential oils, nettle, orange), with very little copper and sulphur thanks to the dry, windy climate;
- the vines are drip-irrigated and the winery has solar panels.
The mountain vineyards are worked mostly by hand. In the cellar, fermentation mostly relies on the grapes’ natural yeasts, and sulphites are kept to a minimum. Nearly a third of the wines are aged in small French oak barrels.
Adopt a cru
The estate lets you adopt a row of vines for a year, in the Rovettaz or Tzeriat cru. The row carries a plate with your name. You can join in the pruning, the harvest or the cellar work, and at the end you receive six bottles of the new vintage, with a personalised label.
The wines
The range highlights the valley’s grape varieties:
- Petite Arvine, especially from the Rovettaz vineyard;
- Torrette Supérieur, Fumin, Cornalin, Premetta, Mayolet and Petit Rouge for the reds;
- Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Chambave Muscat;
- sparkling wines.
