Muscat Petit Grain DOC

Muscat beyond Chambave

Muscat blanc à petits grains is best known in Chambave, which has its own designation. But it is grown elsewhere in the valley too. The wine is then simply called Muscat Petit Grain.

Beyond Chambave

The whole designation area is open to it, from the municipalities of the lower valley to Morgex and La Salle.

Two sets of rules for the same grape

Here, muscat blanc à petits grains must make up at least 85% of the wine. Chambave Muscat is stricter: this grape alone, and only in the Chambave area. The wine may go on sale from 1 December of the harvest year. There is also a flétri version, a sweet wine made from dried grapes.

In the glass

Straw yellow. An intense nose of fresh grapes, a fine, aromatic palate. It is dry, except in the flétri version.

At the table

As an aperitif, with asparagus, with spicy dishes. The flétri version goes with tegole biscuits and fruit desserts.
