The Charrère family estate in Aymavilles

Les Crêtes – The Charrère family estate in Aymavilles

Costantino Charrère founded Les Crêtes in 1989. Today his family runs the estate. It also owns an 18th-century water mill and cellars in Via Moulins. For five generations the Charrères have lived from the land and what it produces.

25 hectares of terraces

The estate has 25 hectares of vines and produces around 200,000 bottles a year. The vines are planted on terraces in a south-facing natural amphitheatre. The grapes ripen there in good conditions.

The Refuge du Vin

In 2016 Les Crêtes opened the Refuge du Vin (Il Rifugio del Vino), a tasting room next to the winery. The name suggests the idea of protecting wine as a product of the mountains. The shape of the building recalls the surrounding peaks, and it has become the emblem of the house. A large covered courtyard links the production areas and the shop.

From the room you can see the town of Aosta. Wines can be tasted there with cheeses and cured meats from the valley.

The wines

Most of the wines are Valle d’Aosta DOC:

  • Whites: Petite Arvine, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, among others.
  • Reds: Torrette, Pinot Noir, Syrah, among others.
  • Rosé: Rosé Vallée d’Aoste.

The house also makes blends of local and international grape varieties, Mon Blanc and Mon Rouge, as well as sparkling wines such as Neblù Brut Rosé.

Visits and shop

The shop is open Monday to Saturday, and on Sundays too in summer. Tours of the winery and the vineyards are by appointment, as are tastings.
