Le Grain – A tiny estate, with nothing but Aosta Valley grapes

At Château Feuillet, in the commune of Saint-Pierre, Le Grain is the estate of Claudio Berthod and his family. The vines were planted by an uncle in 1965. Claudio took them over and turned them into a small winery.

Only local grapes

Le Grain works only with Aosta Valley grapes: petit rouge, cornalin, fumin and petite arvine. No grapes from elsewhere. The estate is tiny, about one hectare on a slope. It produces a few thousand bottles a year.

The wines are fresh and made for the table, like the mountain wines of the past. The farm also sells its fruit and vegetables.

The wines

  • Petite Arvine: the white.
  • Torrette and Petit Rouge: the reds.
  • A rosé.
