The bell-ringer’s wine

Le Clocher – The bell-ringer’s wine

In Jovençan, Le Clocher is the estate of Danilo Charrère and his daughter Nicole, a sommelier. It all began with grandmother Eulalia, who tended small vineyards in the 1950s. The estate was founded in the early 1990s.

The bell-ringer

The name comes from great-grandfather Grato. He was the village bell-ringer. The estate pays tribute to him.

Lots of small plots

The vines cover about four hectares, split into several dozen steep plots. Almost everything is done by hand. The family treats the vines as little as possible, but does not seek organic certification.

In the cellar, there are no barriques: the wines age in large wooden casks, some of them over 50 years old.

The wines

  • Whites: Petite Arvine, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and “Ombre”, a blend.
  • “Chanì”: a Cornalin rosé.
  • Reds: Cornalin, Fumin, Torrette, Torrette Supérieur, Pinot Noir and Gamay.
