Old Grizzly
A family-run restaurant a stone’s throw from Aymavilles Castle
I drove past the Old Grizzly several times without stopping. I was wrong. The restaurant is in Aymavilles, in the hamlet of Micheley, 500 metres from the castle. From the terrace you can see the mountains all around.
A family affair
It is a small place run by a family. The father is in the kitchen. The mother, the son and the daughter-in-law look after the dining room. The welcome is warm and the atmosphere relaxed: you soon feel as if you are being received by friends.
On the plate
The menu follows the cooking of the Aosta Valley. The recipes are traditional, with a few personal touches. The produce comes from the region, and you can tell.
I left happy, keen to go back and to take family and friends.
