Ottin Vini
A mountain farm that runs as a closed loop

At Porossan, in the hills above Aosta, Elio Ottin started out as an agricultural technician. He sold his apples to the cooperative. In 1989, he bought his first vines. Ten years later, he turned to wine full time. His son Nicolas now works with him.
A real farm
There is more than just vines here. There are also cows, meadows and apple trees. Manure from the herd feeds the vines. Energy comes from mountain water, the sun and a wood-fired boiler. The farm runs almost as a closed loop.
Terraces on granite
The vines are on south-facing terraces, at around 600 metres, on granite soil. Some of them were reclaimed from stony, overgrown land. The first Ottin bottles came out in 2007.
The wines
- Petite Arvine: lively, with notes of citrus and exotic fruit.
- “Nuances”: a Petite Arvine aged in wood.
- Pinot Noir.
- Fumin: full-bodied, with notes of black cherry.
- Torrette Supérieur: mostly Petit Rouge, with Fumin and Cornalin.
