Prëmetta DOC

A red so pale you might take it for a rosé

Prëmetta, also known as prié rouge, is an old grape variety of the Aosta Valley. Its skin is thin and lightly coloured. The wine it gives is very pale, almost rosé.

Petit rouge’s neighbour

It shares petit rouge’s area: the central valley, from Châtillon and Saint-Vincent up to Avise. Few vines remain, and only a handful of growers make wine from it.

No required ageing

The proportion of prëmetta cannot fall below 85%. The other reds must spend a minimum time in the cellar, but not this one: it can be sold from 1 December of the year of the harvest.

In the glass

A light cherry colour with pinkish glints. A delicate nose, a light palate with a little tannin.

At the table

Served cool: cured meats, trout, mixed salads, fresh cheeses.
